SPS 2023

Synergy. Together for greater success. IN Nuremberg.

November 14 – 16, 2023
Hall 9, booth 350

The topic of energy is moving people like no other at the moment. For a long time, security was the main criterion for successful energy distribution, but in the face of increasingly scarce resources and climate change, the sustainable generation and efficient distribution of energy is becoming increasingly important. In energy generation, the focus is on renewable energy sources. In the use and distribution of energy, on the other hand, optimisation through digitalisation is playing an increasingly important role with the advancing energy transition.

The key topics of "digitisation and sustainability" as well as products and solutions that promote energy and resource efficiency, support industry in decarbonising its processes and make production smarter as well as more digital are also the focus of the trade fair SPS – Smart Production Solutions.

From 14 November to 16 November 2023, the who's who of the automation industry will meet again at SPS in Nuremberg. According to the motto "Bringing automation to life", the trade fair offers practical and future-oriented technologies as well as innovations in 16 halls on around 120,000 m² of exhibition space with over 1,200 exhibitors from all over the world, which visitors can experience at first hand.

We will also take part again and are looking forward to presenting you our highlights for intelligent energy distribution as well as efficient control and automation technology of tomorrow.

Our highlights at SPS 2023

SECUR®UltraLiner

Time to switch – with the new SECUR®UltraLiner, Wöhner sets new standards and closes a gap in the CrossBoard® portfolio.

With the new switch-disconnector with fuses, outgoing connections with cylindrical fuses type 10x38, Class CC as well as D01/ D02 can now be protected up to a maximum of 50 A and also switched under load.

Wöhner is thus expanding the CrossBoard® portfolio with the first fusible switch according to UL 98 and paves the way for a broad application of the CrossBoard® basic system in the UL world.

In addition to its striking design and minimal width of only 22.5 mm, the new SECUR®UltraLiner offers additional variants with fuse monitoring and also integrated measurement technology for measuring current, voltage and temperature. It thus offers a suitable solution for all applications in which currents of up to 50 A have to be safely conducted, switched and fused in the smallest possible space – and of course internationally.

EQUES®60Classic

Ready for boarding – with the new 4th generation EQUES® adapter series up to 32 A rated current. We have rethought the well-known adapter standard for motor starter applications and simplified the interface for switching devices to the busbar system to the essentials.

The improved cable assembly, which can withstand significantly higher temperatures, the new tool-free adjustable DIN mounting rail and the forward-looking design take the adapter technology for 16 A and 32 A outgoing connections to the next level.

Softstart feature upgrade for Motus®C14

The "Softstart" feature upgrade includes 3-phase phase cut of the input voltages to reduce the starting torque of a motor. The average voltage at the motor is reduced, which also results in a reduced starting current.

As a result, the motor starts with a torque below its rated torque and can be started smoothly. Less mechanical stress on the motor and less stress on the power grid during start-up are the direct, positive effects.

Wöhner thus combines all C14 features – soft start, reversing start, fuse and motor protection – in one product, and all this in a minimal 22.5 mm width. Configuration is convenient and intuitive via the Wöhner ServiceTool.

CrossMT

With the electronic measurement technology module CrossMT, Wöhner brings digitalisation to the successful basic CrossBoard® system.

In combination with a wide range of applications, the CrossMT adds intelligent functions and connectivity wherever components in the control cabinet do not have these already.

The CrossMT measures current, voltage and temperature and derives additional quantities from these values such as power, energy, phase angle and frequency and can then output this data over various communication interfaces (USB-C, digital inputs/outputs, IO-Link). Status LEDs on the top and bottom of the device provide users with a clear overview.

MIEZ

Wöhner now also offers MIEZ modules for monitoring the control cabinet in its measurement technology portfolio and thus covers the entire measurement chain: Measuring, analysing, visualising, communicating, responding.

The new products are available for DIN mounting rail and direct installation in the control cabinet door and round off Wöhner's measurement technology after the fully integrated MOTUS®C14 and OMUS®C14 solutions and the CrossMT measurement technology module.

With the various monitoring modules, you maintain an overview at all times: They serve as a collection point for all data in the cabinet, evaluate them and pass on the analyses to the user. Connected to current transformers (1 A, 5 A, 333 mV), they measure current and voltage, analyse active, apparent and reactive power, the power factor, harmonics and much more – all compact and customised.

Our concept studies at SPS 2023

CrossBar®

Tool-free assembly combined with high safety due to the integrated touch-safe protection make the CrossBoard® from Wöhner the ideal system solution for power distributions up to 160 A, especially for applications in control and automation technology.

With the new rear feeding module CRITO®, additional space can be saved on the front of the CrossBoard®. This space saving means that the entire power distribution system and, if necessary, the complete control cabinet can be reduced in size.

With the CrossBar®, Wöhner presents a concept study with which the CrossBoard® can now be modularly expanded to 4- and 5-pole applications with maximum flexibility.

BROOME20

BROOME20 with up to 20 A output current, greater range of functions and CrossBoard® interface expands Wöhner's power supply portfolio. Together with a unique communication and 24 V management concept, Wöhner consistently thinks the architecture in the control cabinet further.

Feature-Upgrades

With increasing digitalisation, product software takes on a fundamental role in ensuring the functionality and safety of products. In the field of energy distribution and control technology, intelligent as well as digital product solutions also make an important contribution to the safety and efficiency of energy distribution systems.

In addition, the functional scope of the products can be adapted, optimised and expanded through customised feature upgrades. The implementation of new functions or the modification of existing ones enables a continuous adaptation of the functionality. In this way, not only can problems that arise be effectively solved, but also the application possibilities and areas of use can be expanded and adapted step by step.

Wöhner also offers feature upgrades to equip software-controlled products such as the MOTUS®C14 or the CrossMT measurement technology module with new functions and to expand the respective area of application.
