On 02.11.2021, four top-class experts from the electrotechnology industry met in the impressive setting of the E-Werk in Berlin to discuss important innovations in the industry as well as the further development of the CrossBoard®. As an innovative out-of-the-box power distribution system, the CrossBoard® is designed to be a quasi-standard fort he industry.

The Round Table is an open round in which developments are discussed beyond the boundaries of one's own company. Specifically, top experts from Eaton, Phoenix Contact, Rittal and Wöhner meet. In this constellation, all relevant perspectives from the electrical engineering world are represented.

In addition to the specific development of the CrossBoard, the core topics were above all the major issues that move the industry: the digital transformation, sustainability, but also the specific needs on the customer side.

The following "Members of the Board" discussed the issues:

Members of the Board

Peter Spiel Vice President Product Management Wöhner

"We need to digitalise our products, make them intelligent – not highly intelligent, but enough to deliver the data we need. We also need to support our customers internationally and allow them to dock onto us digitally. At various stages of the value chain."

Dr. Andreas SchreiberVice PresidentIndustrial Cabinet SolutionsPhoenix Contact

"Digitalisation in control cabinet production is a task for the entire process chain, including multiple products and product lines. Digitalisation in control cabinet production processes only works well if the input data is available."

Jörg Kreiling Director of Product Management Energy & Power Rittal

"Product development is more than just writing specifications and a manual for a product. You must also equip the products with digital tools so they can go into the processes along the value chain, including the customer's processes, so the customer can optimise those processes."

Frank Wolle Head of Product Management Eaton

"With our Factory of the Future, we tackle the development of new plants and their efficiency directly during planning. This requires the data that digital twins offer us to optimise the processes right from the start."

The E-Werk — contemporary witness of urban industrial culture

The CrossBoard® Round Table took place in the E-Werk in Berlin –
a relic of times gone by. More precisely, the discussion took place
in the historic Schaltwerk. This was where the control centre of the
mechanical plants was located at the time. The room impresses with
its glazed roof, its historic switch panels from 1926 that have been
preserved in their original state and the former maintenance corridor
behind rustic control cabinets.
