Making distance for kids

Miles for Hope

A motorbike accident took both of Florian Sitzmann's legs at the age of 15 and turned his life completely upside down. With willpower and perseverance, he fought his way back and, on his 30th anniversary as a successful handbiker, is organising 'Miles for Hope' to support and inspire children in need.

Who is Florian Sitzmann?

Florian Sitzmann lost both legs in a motorbike accident in 1992 and became, as he calls himself, 'half a man'. However, thanks to the strong support of his private environment and his strong willpower, he has not let himself be thrown off course and instead shows in an impressive way how you can stand firm in life even without legs.

Above all, sport and a newly discovered passion for handcycling have given him strength on his journey through life. Today, Florian Sitzmann is not only a successful handcyclist, multiple German champion, Paralympic silver medallist and a welcome guest on talk shows. Above all, he is on the road for a good cause and shares his experiences with his fellow human beings.

With his countless sporting successes, a positive attitude to life and his motto "Make the best of every situation and accept challenges", Florian Sitzmann has been both an inspiration to his fellow human beings and a driving force behind pioneering aid campaigns for more than 30 years.

What is behind the "Miles for Hope"-Tour?

To mark the 30th anniversary of his stroke of fate, Florian Sitzmann, together with his team and the "Hope for Children" foundation, has launched the "Miles for Hope". Over 13 stages, the half-man and his team will cycle from Hamburg via Coburg to Garmisch-Partenkirchen to the Zugspitze. Florian Sitzmann and his companions were covering a total of 900 kilometres and 5,500 metres in altitude to collect donations for the Hope for Children Foundation.

The foundation helps needy children throughout Germany and was established on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the Groß-Gerauer Volksbank in 1996 to do sustainable good and give hope to needy children in the neighbourhood. Many impressive projects for children have been realised over the past 30 years as a result of this commitment.

Partnership to support the Miles for Hope Tour

The common drive to be a source of inspiration, to take on challenges and to promote forward-looking projects connects us with Florian Sitzmann and is the common denominator for our partnership. With his campaigns and speeches, Florian brings the full power to the streets and inspires his fellow human beings to make the best of every situation. With the support of Florian Sitzmann and Miles for Hope, we can also contribute to these valuable moments and pave the way for further forward-looking aid projects.
