In mid-July, the largest samba festival outside Brazil takes place in Coburg. 3,000 sambistas and 200,000 fans from all over the world bring a Brazilian flair to the city center of Coburg.
Every second weekend in July, it’s that time again: Coburg transforms into “Little Rio,” as 3,000 sambistas and over 200,000 fans from around the world bring Brazilian flair and zest for life to the Franconian city. Pulsating samba rhythms, pounding drums, joyful crowds, colourful costumes, and captivating dance performances — it doesn’t get more samba than this.
The festival is one of Coburg's great flagships and shows joy of life, tolerance as well as musical and cultural diversity! On these days, Coburg becomes a melting pot for people from all over the world and from the most diverse cultures who have only one thing in mind: celebrating and enjoying life. As a mixture of traditional street samba and big stage performances, the Samba Festival offers not only drum and dance acts but also fashion or dance competitions as well as a wide variety of workshops to experience the Brazilian joy of life to the fullest.
We are happy to have been supporting this festival, which has won various awards, as a sponsor for years and to contribute to sending positive energy, passion and joy of life from Coburg to the world. During the Samba Festival days, we feel even a little more connected to our colleagues in Brazil and to the Brazilian culture. Our colleagues from South America are fascinated by the Samba City Coburg, where Brazilian joy of life is celebrated every year. The Brazilian sounds and fascinating performances create an unimagined cultural bond.
The Samba Festival has been taking place on the streets of Coburg since 1992. Starting as a regional event with a few thousand visitors, the biggest samba festival outside Brazil attracts up to 200,000 visitors to Coburg every year and is now known beyond the borders of Germany.
